Images of Lady Gaga.
Despite Lady Gaga's skyrocket to fame, it could be said she has taken it a step too far, taking things from one extreme to the other in just a hundred years. Her use of sex appeal can be appalling and in one of her videos she is actually shown dancing in a group while a group of men watch and drink. If that
is not objectifying the sexes, what is? Though she speaks of equality for men, women, homosexuals and all peoples, her videos do not always relate this message. Occasionally the opposite is what she is actually portraying. Feminism and rallying for acceptance for everyone are noble causes, but there is a line where selfless promotion and charity for others, could turn into selfish self promotion and a scrabble for attention. Lady Gaga carefully walks that line in her eight inch pumps. |
"Trust is like a mirror, you can fix it if it's broken, but you can still see the crack in that mother (f**kers) reflection.” - Lady Gaga
The amazing success from Lady Gaga's second album allowed her to embark on an 18 month tour, which became one of the largest grossing concert tours of all time. Some of her influences in music include David Bowie, Madonna, Queen, and Michael Jackson. Lady Gaga is one of the most flamboyant and unique artists ever seen by today's generation. Gaga has sold around 23 million albums, and 64 million singles worldwide. This makes her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Gaga alongside being a singer, songwriter, actress, and performer she is an activist. She started a non-profit organization called the Born This Way foundation, which is anti-bullying, self confidence, mainly focusing on youth empowerment. Lady Gaga is very much alive in music all across the world. "Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you're wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn't love you anymore.” -Lady Gaga A century ago women were made to be demure and apathetic, everything Gaga is not. An icon for many with her wild fashions and flamboyant music, Lady Gaga has, in many ways, defined a generation in the same way that women like Ella Fitzgerald did before her. Unafraid and unabashed with a style different from anyone else. |
